Haven’t checked the interest rates for USD1 savings in a while. Today, @thecryptoskanda launched the HertzFlow mainnet, which supports USD1, so I just threw part of my savings into it. What’s even better is that I noticed the interest rates have actually gone up! Turns out USD1 is also learning from USDC’s playbook and starting to migrate toward a regulated banking framework.
USD1 just got conditional approval from the OCC to set up its own national trust bank.
With $4 billion in reserves, it’s big enough to play at the table. Both are using ultra-conservative setups with cash, ultra-short-term U.S. Treasuries, and government money market funds, plus monthly independent attestations and real-time reserve proofs.
Circle National Trust is already up and running, and USD1 is on its way. For now, custody is still with BitGo. Stablecoins as a whole are moving toward regulated banking frameworks—USDC is leading the way, and USD1 is following close behind.
