[Iranian Official: Final Deadline Set for U.S. to Fulfill Memorandum of Understanding] BlockBeats News, August 17, an Iranian senior official stated that Iran has set a final deadline of several weeks for the U.S. to fully fulfill the Iran-U.S. Memorandum of Understanding. Iran will not wait indefinitely for the U.S. to continue implementing maritime blockades. Due to the "stalemate in efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement with the U.S.," Iran has decided to shift its policy "from defensive to fully offensive." If diplomatic efforts fail, "Iranians are prepared to escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the (Middle East) region." Iran's timeline will be conveyed to the U.S. through mediating countries. On June 17, the U.S. and Iran announced the official text of the Memorandum of Understanding, which included Article 3: the U.S. and Iran committed to negotiating and reaching a final agreement within a maximum of 60 days. On August 17, the 60-day negotiation window set by the Memorandum of Understanding expired. Due to significant disagreements over issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, U.S.-Iran negotiations have reached a deadlock with no substantive progress. (CCTV News)
