The past three days must have been super tough for stock and crypto traders. First, over the weekend, $BTC’s performance was like a sudden cardiac arrest. We know the crypto market has been quiet, and weekend trading volumes are usually low, but for the volume and volatility to shrink to this extent? Totally unexpected.
Then on Monday, storage stocks continued to rebound. Keep in mind, today was a holiday in South Korea, so it was actually the A-shares market playing the role of the engine. Especially with the giant ChangXin Memory Technologies surging 12% and breaking a 4 trillion yuan market cap.
Among the 'three fools' of storage, Western Digital ($WDC) had the strongest rebound, still riding the positive momentum from last week’s Investor Day. The market’s attitude toward future cash flow sustainability and the cyclical nature of NAND storage seems to be shifting, with the cyclical stock characteristics gradually smoothing out.
As for how far this rebound can go, we’ll need to wait for the U.S. market to open tonight to see if the previously trapped positions will use this opportunity to reduce holdings or if they plan to hold out for higher prices after price discovery. From the current 1750 level, there’s only strong resistance around the 1850-1950 range.
