[Sports Event Prediction Platform Novig Sues Wisconsin Attorney General Over Event Contract Issues]
According to The Block, the sports-focused prediction market platform Novig filed a federal lawsuit on August 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, suing Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and state gambling administrator John Dillett. Novig anticipates that the state will soon take enforcement actions to prevent it from offering sports-related event contracts to Wisconsin residents. In April, Wisconsin had already sued platforms such as Kalshi, Polymarket, Robinhood, (Crypto.com), and Coinbase, alleging that their sports event contracts violated the state's commercial gambling prohibition. Novig began offering contracts to Wisconsin customers just a week before filing the lawsuit and has requested the court to expedite the preliminary injunction process to block state enforcement.
