[Kalshi Hits Back at Nevada Gambling Regulators Over $120,000 Daily Fine, Accuses Investigators of Misreporting Addresses and Bypassing Restrictions]
According to Reuters, prediction market platform Kalshi issued a statement pushing back against Nevada gambling regulators' decision to impose a $120,000 daily fine, accusing them of violating federal law. In April, a Nevada court issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting Kalshi from offering related contracts in the state without obtaining a gambling license. The court required Kalshi to implement a comprehensive geofencing solution. Regulatory investigators claimed that one day after the court-mandated deadline, they successfully completed nine transactions on the Kalshi app using mobile networks within Nevada, concluding that Kalshi had not fully complied with the requirements. Kalshi countered by stating that it had hired GeoComply, a Nevada-licensed vendor, as required by the state and had kept the state informed of progress throughout the process.
