Another full-stack AI platform! Last night, the official Cursor account personally announced: 'Cursor is now part of SpaceX,' meaning SpaceX's acquisition of Cursor has been officially completed and integrated. It's highly likely that the Cursor name will disappear in the future, but it's unclear whether it will be fully merged into Grok Build or Grok Cursor. One thing seems certain: the new version of Cursor will likely be built on the Grok large model (currently, Cursor's code model is still based on kim2.5).
Back in April, I discussed the significance and impact of SpaceX acquiring Cursor here: https://((x.com))/qinbafrank/status/2046741180063637687?s=46&t=k6rimWsEbo2D2tXolYcM-A.
Recently, because of Elon Musk's comments during the Q2 earnings call, many people have started viewing SpaceX as a neocloud company. In fact, after SpaceX signed a computing power rental agreement with Anthropic and Google in June, it was already being touted as the leader of NeoCloud.
But now, SpaceX is not just NeoCloud. SpaceX has already combined the Grok 4.6 large model, the Grok Build/Cursor VibeCoding tools, the AI agent Grok Bot, the ability to sell its own APIs/tokens, cloud computing rental services, and plans to develop its own chips in the future. It's officially leveled up to become a full-stack AI platform on par with Google, Microsoft (whose self-developed MAI is only a mid-tier model), and Alibaba.
Because of these business developments, coupled with the stock price rebound after last week's earnings report, many people are feeling very optimistic about SpaceX again. On August 6th, I even discussed with friends how, in the short term, every time lock-up periods end, there’s a short-term trading opportunity. (Many people think the root of this trading lies in the market's early pricing and expectations, but that's only part of it. Another factor is that with each batch of unlocked shares, the float increases; and as SpaceX's weight in the Nasdaq 100 grows, passive index funds have to buy more.)
However, my long-term view remains consistent with what I mentioned here: https://((x.com))/qinbafrank/status/2084826952633131152?s=46&t=k6rimWsEbo2D2tXolYcM-A. By the end of the year, SpaceX will present a mid-to-long-term allocation opportunity. After all, over the next four months, there will be waves of restricted shares unlocking every one to two weeks.
