Today, 'Cow Came' is taking over my feed!
This is a legendary underdog story in film history. After nine days in theaters, it had only made a little over 7,000 yuan at the box office. The visuals are rough, there was zero promotion, and the entire production was handcrafted over five years by just a mother and son duo. It was supposed to quietly disappear from theaters.
But then, its abysmal box office and ultra-rough visuals landed it on trending topics, sparking curiosity among netizens. Cinemas scrambled to add more screenings, and the total box office skyrocketed by a thousand times. Tons of people went out of their way to watch it, roast it, and join in on the memes.
Honestly, the logic behind *Cow Came* is the same as buying those MeMes or those ugly NFTs from before.
The chain reaction goes something like this:
“What the hell is this?” → Let me check it out → After watching, I can’t help but tell others → More people get curious and go watch → The buzz keeps growing → Something that originally had no value starts gaining value just because “everyone is talking about it.”
At some point, people aren’t even consuming the movie itself or the Meme itself anymore—they’re consuming the feeling of “I’m part of this viral trend.”
The dumber it looks, the wider it spreads, because people want to satisfy their curiosity. The more curious they get, the more people watch it. The more people watch it, the more curious it gets. And eventually, it snowballs into a short-term consensus!
