[Yu Jiahui, Recruited by Meta with a Hefty Offer, Starts a New Venture Right After Delivering the Muse Suite] According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, Yu Jiahui has announced his departure from Meta to start a new company. Last year, he joined Meta from OpenAI, working with Mark Zuckerberg and Wang Tao to establish TBD Lab, focusing on multimodal research and development. After more than a year, he has decided to leave the tech giant to pursue entrepreneurship. During his time at Meta, Yu Jiahui contributed to projects such as Muse Spark, Voice Mode, Muse Image, and Muse Video. Just before his departure, Muse Spark had been updated to version 1.2. He stated that he has become increasingly drawn to a question that is "extremely important to humanity's future but currently underexplored," and he plans to dedicate all his energy to investigating it. The name and specific direction of his new company have not yet been disclosed. Previously, Yu Jiahui led OpenAI's Perception team and participated in Google DeepMind's Gemini multimodal research. When Meta established its superintelligence lab last year, he was one of the core researchers recruited by Zuckerberg from OpenAI. Yu Jiahui joined Meta during a period of intense competition for AI talent in Silicon Valley. At the time, Meta was reported to have offered total first-year compensation exceeding $100 million to a select few top talents, though the company later denied that all key employees received this level of pay. There is currently no evidence to suggest that Yu Jiahui himself received a $100 million annual salary. [Original Link]
