AI has developed to this point, and everyone should see it clearly by now. Models are important, applications are important too. But at the most fundamental level, it’s still about computing power. Without GPUs, even the most powerful AI can’t run. B3 Labs recently launched something called B3IQ. It’s mainly about buying GPU servers in installments. It’s not about renting cloud computing power. Instead, it lets you buy U.S.-based GPU servers in installments. This installment plan is different from others—after paying a 30% down payment, the subsequent payments can be covered by leasing out the computing power through B3’s platform. Once it’s fully paid off, the machine is yours. This is different from regular cloud services. With cloud computing, you’re always renting someone else’s machine. B3IQ is more like buying your own machine in installments. AI can run on your own machine, and your data doesn’t have to be transmitted everywhere. This is pretty important for things like university research, medical data, and training specialized models. Research teams from Stanford, NYU, and Dartmouth are already using it. For example, cancer research or national-level diplomatic negotiation simulations. You can’t just casually run that kind of stuff on a public cloud, right? Another thing is, when the machine is idle, you can lease out the computing power to other labs that need it. The income can offset the cost of the machine or even turn into profit. In short: The machine is yours. You can use the computing power yourself. When you’re not using it, you can rent it out. The key is, B3 Labs has a pretty impressive background. It was founded by a former Coinbase team. Backed by Pantera Capital and Coinbase Ventures. They’ve raised over $21 million in funding. This is way more solid than those projects that just hype up AI narratives. In the future, AI won’t lack stories. What it will lack is cheap, stable, and controllable computing power. Not sure how much the returns on B3IQ will be. If it’s over 15%, I might just hop on.
