Bitcoin longs just hit new all-time highs. with over $23B positioned, which sounds great, but is typically a very bad sign.
The last time we saw this much long interest was in November, 2025 when BTC peaked at $126k and price crashed to $80k.
Before that, at the end of 2024 when BTC dumped from $108k to $89k, then also in mid-2024 when BTC dumped from $73k to $49k and most notably in 2022 during the famous FTX crash to $16k.
So are traders getting Bullish too early in this Bear Market correction?
Well, not necessarily. This long-heavy signal also flashed in Mid-2025, but then BTC continued to climb higher for many months following.
But that seems to be the exception to the pattern.
Typically when the signal flashes price tends to follow pretty quickly.
So, while general consensus might be it's good that everyone is longing BTC right now and that the worst is 'definitely over' and it's 'only up from here', that's not what the data says. Typically this type of build-up event is something that precedes a large flush in the markets.
The good news?
If we do get a flush, the following months are typically the best historical times to buy accumulate, DCA and buy BTC.
