Pixel 11 lets you type directly with sign language Google DeepMind has launched a new sign language-to-text model, SL2T. Pixel 11 is the first to support American Sign Language (ASL) → English. Users can face the phone's camera, sign directly, and input text, search the web, give commands to Gemini, or even join conversations using sign language. Speech recognition has been around for years, allowing people with normal hearing to talk to their phones instead of typing. But for the 7 million deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals worldwide who use over 200 different sign languages, there’s never been an equivalent input method at the same level. SL2T is the first time sign language AI has moved from a research project to a smartphone feature that everyday consumers can use.
