So says the man who spent over a DECADE compiling one of the most racist voting records in Congress. During the ’70s and ’80s, @EdMarkey backed a Constitutional Amendment to ban busing Black kids into white school districts - the same districts he represented, which were 95-99% white. 🙋‍♂️ QUESTION: How racist do you have to be to want to amend the Constitution just to keep Black kids out of white schools? That’s not all. Markey was a loud defender of Bob Jones University - a school that banned Black students outright in the ’70s, then banned interracial dating and marriage in the ’80s. Fall in love with the wrong person, get expelled. When the IRS moved to strip Bob Jones of its tax-exempt status, Markey voted to protect it. Strange how invested he was in a South Carolina university with zero ties to Massachusetts. 🤔 Then there’s Rachel Rollins. Markey bragged about her endorsement, calling her a symbol of racial justice - skin color over substance. He lobbied hard to get her named U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts. She resigned in disgrace over ethics violations. Funny - no mention of “racial justice” then. As recently as August 2020, Danroy “DJ” Henry Sr. called Markey out on camera: performs one way for the cameras, completely different when they’re off. Henry said Markey was still calling Black people “colored.” Malcolm X warned blacks that white progressives - like Markey - posed a unique danger to Black liberation - because they dress up political self-interest as friendship. That’s exactly the “friendship” Markey offers: pandering to Black voters while claiming to support reparations, after spending years fighting tooth and nail against one of America’s first real acts of reparative justice - school desegregation. He fought to keep Black kids out of white schools. He protected a racist university a thousand miles from home. He used Black leaders as political props - then dropped them the moment it was inconvenient. If Markey wants to talk repair, he can start with his own wallet. After all, after 53 years in office - he’s a multimillionaire - courtesy of the American taxpayer. Until he does - Ed, sit this one out.(John E Deaton)
