[Nasdaq Acquires Dark Pool Trading Platform LeveL, Expands Stock Market Infrastructure Footprint]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on August 11, Bloomberg reported that Nasdaq has reached an agreement to acquire the dark pool trading platform LeveL Markets to further expand its footprint in stock market trading infrastructure. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Nasdaq will acquire 100% equity in LeveL Markets. LeveL Markets is an Alternative Trading System (ATS), also known as a "dark pool," and the terms of the transaction have not yet been disclosed. Dark pool trading platforms allow institutional investors to execute large-scale stock trades without publicly disclosing order information, reducing market impact and improving execution efficiency.
As institutional trading demand increases and competition in the stock market intensifies, exchange operators are expanding their influence in capital market infrastructure by acquiring alternative trading systems, data services, and trading technology platforms. This transaction is also part of Nasdaq's ongoing efforts to broaden the boundaries of its traditional exchange business. In recent years, Nasdaq has transformed from a single stock trading platform into a comprehensive market infrastructure provider encompassing trading, market data, indices, clearing, and financial technology services.
