Clickbait titles are everywhere these days. Even reports I regularly follow can be misleading if you don’t fact-check carefully. Yep, this one claiming 'Iran has completely ruled out any possibility of future negotiations with the Trump administration' is total nonsense. But I bet by tomorrow, major media outlets will be reposting it. In reality, the quote in the tweet—'Trump won’t make a deal with us. We’ll wait him out until the end of his term.'—didn’t come from any official source, nor is it recent. It’s from an interview in late July with an advisor to Speaker Ghalibaf, not even the Speaker himself! And if you look at the subtitles, it’s clear that the statement about Trump not making a deal was based on past assessments, not a definitive claim that no deal could ever happen. Iran has never officially stated that they’ve completely ruled out future negotiations with the Trump administration. In fact, they’re still exploring the possibility of talks. Media outlets will do anything for clicks these days—shameless!
