[Ledger: BIP-110 Lacks Replay Protection, Transferring or Selling Forked Coins May Endanger Main Chain Assets] BlockBeats News, August 9 – Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger issued a security alert regarding the BIP-110 fork, stating that BIP-110 is a Bitcoin soft fork proposal without built-in replay protection. If an independent chain is formed, BTC holders may receive an equivalent amount of corresponding assets on the new chain. However, in the early stages, both chains may accept the same signed transactions. If users attempt to transfer or sell assets on the BIP-110 chain, the related transactions may be "replayed" on the Bitcoin main chain, causing the corresponding BTC to be transferred simultaneously. Ledger stated that its devices are technically capable of signing such transactions but recommends not claiming or handling BIP-110 forked coins until a replay protection mechanism is implemented.
