Breaking: Massive attack on Bitcoin cold wallets. This time, it’s not an exchange collapse. Not a phishing site. And not users handing over their seed phrases. It’s the hardware wallet itself—supposedly designed to "protect private keys"—that has a critical vulnerability. Attackers allegedly exploited a flaw in the Seed generation process of the COLDCARD Mk3, and within just 25 minutes, drained approximately 500 Bitcoin wallets: 594 BTC Worth about $38 million. The core issue lies in: Insufficient entropy during the generation of Recovery Phrases in some Mk3 devices, making seed phrases—which should be nearly impossible to predict— vulnerable to being calculated. The truly terrifying part of this is— Your cold wallet might not even be connected to the internet. You didn’t leak your seed phrase. You didn’t click on any phishing links. But if the Seed wasn’t random enough from the moment it was created, your BTC might not have been as safe as you thought from day one. This incident serves as yet another reminder to the entire crypto community: Cold Wallet ≠ Absolute Security. Exchanges can collapse. Smart contracts can get hacked. Hardware wallets can have vulnerabilities too. What truly needs protection has never been just your seed phrase. It’s the entire security chain from "generation → storage → signing." ₿
