[Nomura Research: AI Drives Net Job Growth in India as New Positions Outpace Layoffs] According to Bloomberg, the latest research from Japan's Nomura Holdings shows that between 2022 and August 2026, India recorded approximately 83,100 hires in AI-related roles, while layoffs and natural attrition amounted to about 31,900, with AI-driven job creation significantly outpacing job reductions. Based on an analysis of 69 typical cases across Asia, the report identifies India, due to its massive scale, as a 'testing ground' for evaluating AI's impact on employment. Most layoffs were concentrated in customer service and support roles replaced by chatbots, while new positions were primarily technical talent recruited by IT service companies to meet AI-related demands. Nomura noted that AI is accelerating the formation of a 'dual labor market' in countries like India and South Korea, reducing demand for entry-level roles while increasing demand for mid- to high-level talent with business acumen.
