Still another day of back-and-forth between the U.S. and Iran. This time, the U.S. played it smarter—not negotiating directly with Iran but going through Oman instead. This kind of indirect approach seems to be working for now. Even though Iran is fully aware of the situation, it’s like both sides are giving each other a way out. On the surface, everyone’s throwing shade, but in reality, they’re still sitting at the table hashing things out. WTI has already dropped below $75, and my personal first-stage target has been achieved. The profits from shorting oil this time are higher than in previous rounds, mainly because funding rates have dropped significantly. I’ve held this position for almost a month now, and the funding rate is only about 30% of what it used to be, saving me a lot of money. If the rates were as high as before, I probably would’ve been much more hesitant to hold on. Lower funding rates gave me the confidence to hold longer. Of course, this also meant missing out on some swing trading opportunities. Yesterday, I was chatting with some friends about oil trading. I said you don’t need to focus too much on swing trading when it comes to oil. After all, shorting oil is mostly about information flow. Who knows when a single tweet from Trump or a missile from Iran could completely shift market expectations? As long as the general direction is right, it’s fine. Too much swing trading might just get you shaken out. Personally, I almost never do swing trades. My one rule: short at the highs. Aside from oil, there’s SK Hynix and Bitcoin. I haven’t opened any new positions in SK Hynix for two days now, but tomorrow might be a good opportunity. As for Bitcoin, I’m still doing well with dual-currency trades. Bought in at $63,000, and it’s been profitable so far. My current sell order is at $66,000, though it probably won’t hit that level.
