[Former Los Angeles Police Officer Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Bitcoin Robbery Case] Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on August 5, according to The Block, former Los Angeles Police Department officer Eric Halem was sentenced to life imprisonment plus an additional 15 years for his involvement in a cryptocurrency-related robbery case. The incident dates back to December 2024, when Halem and three accomplices broke into an apartment in Los Angeles' Koreatown, kidnapping and threatening a 17-year-old victim to hand over a hard drive containing approximately $350,000 worth of Bitcoin. The court rejected his request for a retrial, with the judge stating that his actions were driven by "pure greed." Additionally, Halem is currently facing pending charges for insurance fraud and another cryptocurrency-related robbery case.
