[Coldcard Hacker Wallet Becomes a Public Message Board, Victims Send On-Chain Messages to Request Fund Returns]
According to CoinDesk, a wallet address holding approximately $36 million in stolen Bitcoin from the Coldcard hacking incident has become a place where victims and others leave on-chain messages. Since July 30, the address has received multiple transactions with OP_RETURN notes attached. Some wrote, 'You stole the money, please return a portion,' while others wrote, 'Please return 80% of my 5 BTC.' There are also claims offering money laundering services, as well as individuals simply jumping on the trend to ask for Bitcoin. OP_RETURN is a Bitcoin feature that allows a small piece of text to be attached to a transaction, permanently recorded on the blockchain. Institutions like Galaxy Research have confirmed this address as one of those controlled by the attacker.
