On August 5, a shareholder group called the 'Korea Shareholders Activism Headquarters' stated: 'Under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, cases involving the CEOs of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix allegedly breaching shareholder trust have been handed over to the First and Second Investigation Divisions of the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency, respectively.' On July 22, the group had already filed a complaint with the National Office of Investigation (NOI) of the Korean National Police Agency, accusing Samsung Electronics Co-CEOs Jun Young-hyun and Roh Tae-moon, as well as SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung. The group claims that the executives agreed to pay bonuses without thoroughly reviewing labor-management agreements and established a payment mechanism that unreasonably depleted company assets, thereby constituting a breach of trust.
