[Analyst: Samsung Expected to Become a Major Stablecoin Distributor]
According to a report by CoinDesk, Joseph Goh, Head of Asia-Pacific at crypto investment bank Areta, pointed out that Samsung is likely to become a major distributor of stablecoins because 'distribution channels are the truly scarce resource.' Samsung's extensive distribution channels will give it a competitive edge. Goh further stated that wallet announcements have locked in distribution channels, with SDS and Dunamu providing the underlying infrastructure. Samsung's goal is to simultaneously deploy USD and KRW stablecoins.
Previously, Samsung announced plans to add native stablecoin functionality to Samsung Wallet for over 800 million Galaxy smartphones, including fiat-pegged savings and payment accounts. It is reported that Samsung Wallet already has nearly 19 million users in South Korea and is available in 61 countries.
