[Kalshi CEO Says If Logic of New York Lawsuit Holds, Nasdaq Should Also Be Sued]
According to The Block, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour responded to New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit during an interview with CNBC, stating that the lawsuit could be copied and directly applied to Nasdaq. He noted that Kalshi functions similarly to Nasdaq—charging a 1% transaction fee rather than betting against users. Mansour also compared the regulatory challenges faced by Kalshi to the early struggles of Uber and Airbnb, saying, 'Disruptive industries threaten vested interests; the same script has played out with taxis and Uber, hotels and Airbnb.' Last week, the New York Attorney General sued Kalshi, accusing its event contracts of constituting illegal gambling and seeking at least $36 billion in damages.
