According to Wu Blockchain, a criminal indictment from the U.S. Department of Justice reveals that former FBI supervisory agent Patrick Steven Yaroch is accused of using his work privileges to access internal FBI data, obtaining access credentials such as seed phrases for crypto wallets linked to a hostile foreign state. Starting in late 2024, he allegedly transferred funds from these wallets to ones under his control approximately 10 times. Yaroch admitted to stealing less than $1 million, mixing the stolen funds with his personal assets, and depositing part of it into Suilend to earn returns. On July 29, he voluntarily disclosed the matter to the FBI. On July 31, investigators transferred approximately $925,000 worth of crypto assets from his Kraken and Slush/Suilend accounts into a wallet controlled by the U.S. government. An additional $166,000 in cash remained in his Kraken account as it couldn’t be transferred on-chain. Yaroch was arrested the same day and charged with interstate transportation and receipt of stolen property. https://(wublock123.com)/news/former-fbi-supervisory-agent-allegedly-used-insider-data-to-steal-1m-crypto-65822
