[Morgan Stanley Research: Data Center HDD/SSD Demand Remains Strong, Enterprise SSD Shipment Capacity Expected to Double by 2026] BlockBeats News, August 3, Morgan Stanley released a report stating that June HDD/SSD data continues to show robust data center demand. TSR predicts that by 2026, enterprise SSD shipment capacity for data centers will reach 525EB, a year-on-year increase of 100%; nearline HDD shipment capacity for data centers will reach 1845EB, a year-on-year increase of 30.4%. The report shows that in June, enterprise SSD shipment capacity for data centers was 46.33EB, a year-on-year increase of 124.5% and a month-on-month increase of 12.0%. During the same period, enterprise SSD shipments reached 6.35 million units, a year-on-year increase of 41.1% and a month-on-month increase of 8.9%. Morgan Stanley believes that as the proportion of high-capacity products increases, the growth rate of SSD shipment capacity will continue to outpace the growth rate of unit shipments. For HDDs, nearline HDD production in June was 7.03 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.3% but a slight month-on-month decrease of 0.6%. TSR predicts that by 2026, nearline HDD production will reach 84.39 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%. However, the report warns that future production increases for nearline HDDs may be constrained by head and testing capacity limitations. Overall, AI and data center capital expenditures continue to drive storage capacity demand, but supply chain bottlenecks are spreading from end devices to critical component segments.
