Carpenter Dakota Mohn went viral after discovering a handwritten message hidden inside the wall of a historic home he was renovating in Green Valley, Illinois. While removing sections of a fire-damaged living room wall in the 150-year-old house, Mohn found an inscription written on the wooden framework that read, “Note 9/29/1975,” with arrows pointing toward a small hidden notch. Inside the secret compartment was a bottle containing a carefully preserved two-page letter written nearly 50 years earlier. The note was created by Stephanie Herron, who was only 14 years old when she tucked it away as a personal time capsule. She described her daily life, including her father’s occupation, neighbors, the fact that Gerald Ford was president, and her mother’s pregnancy.
