[Kulipa Card Issuer Collapse Leads to Ready Crypto Credit Card Shutdown]
According to The Defiant, self-custody wallet Ready (formerly Argent) shut down its crypto credit card project on Wednesday due to the sudden closure of issuer Kulipa. Co-founder Itamar Lesuisse posted on the X platform stating that no prior notice was received, and eligible card subscriptions will be automatically refunded. User assets remain unaffected due to the self-custody nature of the Ready wallet.
It is reported that Kulipa built card programs for approximately 20 crypto wallets and fintech companies. Its collapse has impacted more than just Ready; Solana wallet Solflare announced on Tuesday that its card has also ceased functioning. Both Ready and Solflare cards were designed to deduct funds directly from users' wallets at the time of purchase, meaning Kulipa did not hold customer balances when it shut down.
