Bonds once again failing to hedge stock declines.. Since SPY fall from June highs AGG, TLT, LQD all down. Small time frame but gives some 2022 deja vu. I know this topic triggers some of the learned investors (not my intent) but the numbers are the numbers and ppl have long depended on the 40 to hedge the 60. This is why money market mutual funds buffer ETFs are seeing so much inflows IMO. I'm not saying they won't eventually hedge stocks but their recent track record isn't good. I think when the Fed lowered rates for so long it boosted bonds and stocks together for long time so when it abruptly raised rates in 2022, both fell together. Recent oil spike has inflation worries and so here we are again.(Eric Balchunas)
