[U.S. Trade Representative Greer: New Tariffs Will Not Bring Additional Economic Impact] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 28, U.S. Trade Representative Greer stated on Monday local time that the newly implemented Section 301 tariff measures will not cause economic impacts beyond the current tolerable range. Greer mentioned that the new tariffs imposed by President Trump on 60 trade partners may not have economic effects, partly because the 10% or 12.5% tariff rates are similar to previous global tariff actions. Greer noted that the scope of countries targeted by the new Section 301 tariffs is smaller than the range of countries affected by the previously broadly applied 10% temporary tariffs. However, the agency stated that the new tariffs will still cover 99.4% of U.S. imported goods. (Jin10)
