[Jensen Huang: Semiconductor Industry May Need to Expand 10x in the Next Decade] BlockBeats News, July 26 – NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated in a Bloomberg podcast interview that South Korea is currently in its 'golden age,' with its semiconductor and industrial capabilities poised to help build global AI infrastructure. NVIDIA has entered into multiple collaborations with SK Group, with the scale of future business dealings in areas such as memory procurement, AI supercomputers, and data center construction expected to exceed $500 billion. NVIDIA will procure a large volume of memory chips from SK Hynix over several years and will jointly advance the technology roadmap from HBM2, HBM3, HBM3E, HBM4, HBM4E, to subsequent products. Meanwhile, SK Telecom plans to expand its AI cloud infrastructure to a maximum of 2 gigawatts in the near future, with NVIDIA set to sell supercomputers to the company. The collaboration between the two parties includes both NVIDIA's procurement of memory and SK Group's procurement of AI infrastructure. Jensen Huang believes that as AI agents and robots begin to use computers on a large scale, chip demand will no longer be driven solely by human users. Over the next decade, the global semiconductor industry may need to expand to 10 times its current size. At present, resources such as HBM memory, land, electricity, and data center construction are in tight supply. While the industry may have the capacity to double its scale annually, faster expansion will be extremely challenging. The entire industry might be able to double its supply capacity each year, but land, electricity, and facilities cannot expand as quickly as consumer electronics, meaning AI infrastructure development may continue at a constrained pace over the next decade.
