[EU Adopts 21st Round of Sanctions Against Russia, Strengthens Restrictions on Finance, Energy, and Crypto Assets]
On July 23, the EU Council adopted the 21st round of sanctions against Russia, adding 218 individuals and entities to the list, including 48 individuals and 170 entities. The EU imposed asset freezes on 94 banks and financial institutions, expanded transaction bans to 33 Russian credit and financial institutions, included 14 crypto asset service platforms under restrictions, and proposed potential bans on third-country crypto asset services assisting Russia in evading sanctions. The EU also added sanctions on 41 vessels and imposed restrictions on several oil traders, refineries, and entities within the military-industrial supply chain.
