BubbleMaps: 75% of BitMEX token allocations have never circulated on the chain
Odaily Planet Daily News: The blockchain data analysis platform Bubblemaps published an article stating that after BitMEX announced its closure, the price of its platform token BMEX has dropped significantly, and it has now fallen by about 95% from its previous level. However, according to BitMEX's publicly disclosed token economy model, approximately 75% of the total supply of BMEX was originally planned for employee incentives, ecological development, and long-term reserves, but these tokens were never distributed on the chain. According to data, approximately 92% of BMEX supply in 2021 was locked into investing contracts, with the remaining 8% allocated upon token launch, including 5% for airdrops and 3% for product and liquidity support. On November 2, 2022, approximately 63.75 million BMEX were collected from product and liquidity addresses, while no token collection occurred for distribution addresses such as employee incentives, ecological growth, and long-term reserves. BubbleMaps states that this does not necessarily mean there is a problem, as the project may have adjusted its token economy model, contracts, or distribution plans in the future, which are not reflected on the chain.
