In my impression, this platform has always been focused on futures contracts and should’ve been super profitable. This news really caught me off guard. This isn’t just any exchange—BitMEX was once the *pioneer* of the crypto derivatives era. After its founding in 2014, it introduced: the BTC perpetual contract model; the high-leverage trading culture; and was one of the most important sources of liquidity in the early crypto market. It was the OG leader in contracts! Around 2016, a lot of my friends were using this exchange, and I thought they were so badass back then—using a foreign platform so smoothly. In the blink of an eye, more than a decade has passed, and now BitMEX is about to go under!
