[Amazon is Overhauling Alexa+'s AI Architecture to Reduce Dependence on Anthropic Models]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on July 23, as reported by Business Insider, Amazon is heavily restructuring Alexa+'s AI architecture to route more requests to its self-developed models and reduce reliance on the Anthropic Claude model through caching mechanisms. At the same time, it is optimizing GPU utilization to cut operational expenses. Internal documents reveal that Alexa+'s AWS cloud costs are projected to reach approximately $1.7 billion by 2026, nearly tripling from the previous year and exceeding the target cost by about 60%. Even though around $450 million in potential savings has been identified, internal assessments still suggest that this business is unlikely to meet its financial targets. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has publicly emphasized the urgency of reducing AI inference costs, and this architectural adjustment is a direct implementation of that strategic direction.
