[South Korean Stocks Experience Volatile Swings, Retail Investors Return to U.S. Stock Market for Buying Spree] According to a report by Jinse Finance on July 23, South Korean media revealed that as the KOSPI index has recently undergone significant fluctuations, individual investors are channeling their funds into the U.S. stock market. At the beginning of the year, South Korean retail investors primarily focused on purchasing large U.S. tech stocks and index ETFs, but recently their interest has expanded to AI semiconductor stocks and high-risk leveraged ETFs. Data released on July 22 by Seibro, the securities information portal under the Korea Securities Depository (KSD), showed that between July 1 and July 21, domestic South Korean investors had a net purchase of $2.879 billion (approximately 4.26 trillion KRW) in U.S. stocks, more than four times the net purchase amount in June. Notably, in just two days, July 20 and 21, the net purchase volume increased by approximately $1 billion. Since the beginning of this year, South Korean investors' net purchases of U.S. stocks shifted from $4.499 billion in January to net selling in April. However, after resuming net purchases in June, the buying momentum has significantly intensified in July.
