[Strait of Hormuz Weekly Vessel Traffic Drops Nearly 50%, Brent Crude Approaches $92/Barrel]
Odaily Planet Daily News – The U.S.-Iran conflict has entered its tenth day. On Tuesday, Brent crude oil briefly reached $91.63 per barrel before retreating to $91.26 per barrel by 5 PM Eastern Time. U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 2.3% to $84.38 per barrel. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains disrupted, with weekly vessel traffic dropping to 127 ships as of the week ending July 19, down nearly 50% from 248 ships in the week ending July 12. Indian state-owned refiners Indian Oil and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals have suspended crude oil loading from Iraq. Maritime intelligence data shows that the U.S. Navy escort corridor has been almost abandoned, with ship operators primarily rerouting through Iran's northern passage. Goldman Sachs estimates that crude oil shipments from the Persian Gulf have fallen to less than 45% of pre-conflict levels.
