He believes that the most critical issue at present is whether LLM combined with subsequent improvements can ultimately cover all human abilities, which is currently uncertain. He defined AGI as "AI that can independently continue civilization even after humans suddenly disappear when uploaded into robots," and believed that once this point is reached, humanity's dominance over the Earth will be a historical coincidence rather than a fundamental advantage. \Vitalik stated that his ideal future is to preserve a diverse global political and economic landscape, deeply integrate humans and machines instead of being replaced, and preserve space for those who do not want to change their way of life. He also warned that this path to an ideal future is extremely narrow and may be interrupted by various risks. This includes excessive AI autonomy, a single country or enterprise gaining decisive advantages and locking them in, and the failure of human-machine integration itself to retain sufficient human essence. He expressed support for the proposal to slow down or pause AI, hoping to cross this high-risk period at a slower pace, and believed that if open-source model weights could suppress capital investment in cutting-edge models, it would be an ideal path to achieve deceleration without the need for strong political measures.
