Looks like OKX has also jumped into tokenized U.S. stock trading. Kind of curious how they plan to grab a slice of the pie from Binance, BG, BIT, and others who started offering tokenized stocks earlier. So, after watching the game this morning (and losing money ), I couldn’t sleep and spent some time testing it out. From my testing, there’s not much novelty for retail users (C-end users) at the moment. The selection is a bit limited, but after carefully reading the documentation, I realized OKX’s approach to tokenized U.S. stocks is quite different from its competitors: Most competitors use Alpaca and follow a hybrid model of "traditional brokerage + Alpaca infrastructure + on-chain issuance." The advantage here is smoother conversion with real stocks and strong DeFi compatibility. OKX, on the other hand, chose a route of "professional RWA issuers (Backed xStocks) + unified order book." The advantage is aggregating tokens from different issuers into a single asset, solving liquidity fragmentation. So, OKX’s killer move is actually a strategy of inclusivity --> No matter if you bought tokenized U.S. stocks from Ondo, bStocks, or xStocks, once you deposit them into OKX, they’re all categorized under the same type -- X U.S. stock tokens, like XNVDA. Basically, I’m late to the game, and you guys have been fighting your own battles with fragmented liquidity across all these tokenized U.S. stocks. Well, I’ll just unify everything and expand the liquidity pool. Plus, these X U.S. stock tokens can even be used in portfolio margining as collateral. Yep, no matter which platform issued your tokens, you can use them as collateral here. That’s some serious inclusivity . This strategy is pretty interesting and breaks away from the usual siloed thinking. Although the first step currently only supports deposits of xStocks tokens (Solana chain/Xlayer chain), they plan to support deposits and withdrawals of other major tokenized U.S. stocks later. As for other features like supporting U.S. stock grid trading contracts, those are pretty standard, so I won’t go into detail.
