Some people asked: “If this fire is caused by climate and can’t be put out with water bombers what do we do?” There are only two answers: 1) Lower the planets average temperature by -2.5C (By investing in renewables, nuclear, etc to the point that industrialized nations use clean energy that is cheaper than coal AND by improving solar reflection) Or 2) Deal with this every year until so much of the boreal forest is destroyed by burns, that there isn’t enough to catch fire annually anymore The problem with the second one, is the amount of carbon that would release into the air would lower the air quality world wide permanently, and heat the planet by catastrophic levels. Our planet does naturally go through hot and cold cycles, including those influenced by changes in the suns radiance. But our impact on the environment exponential increases and accelerated that heat. Even without that impact it’s unclear if the planet stays cool enough in our life time for the world as we know it to remain stable. That’s exactly why we must do everything in our power to invest in mitigation as much as possible.(Adam Cochran (adamscochran.eth))
