The individuals involved received fraudulent funds through local digital bank accounts, then withdrew the money to purchase cryptocurrency at OTC shops. Over two months, the case involved HK$9.29 million, and the perpetrators were ultimately sentenced for money laundering. The risk doesn’t lie in 'buying USDT' itself, but rather in the source of funds, account roles, withdrawal paths, and whether on-chain transfers can be reasonably explained.
