[Singapore Considers Cutting Hedge Fund Tax Rates to Enhance Competitiveness] According to a report by Golden Finance on July 19, citing the Financial Times, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has begun consultations with investment institutions to discuss reducing tax burdens for fund managers in order to maintain competitiveness and retain talent. MAS stated that it is reviewing various measures to enhance Singapore's competitiveness as a hub for financial institutions and talent. One of the measures under discussion by MAS is lowering the tax rate of a special incentive program, under which participating investment groups would be taxed at only 10%, compared to Singapore's standard corporate tax rate of 17%. The report noted that this would allow these companies to pass on the tax savings to portfolio managers.
