Zcash ecosystem has released a new full-node client, Zakura 1.0.0, featuring data pruning, fast sync, and compatibility with the existing zcashd interface. The team stated that a roughly 11 GB node snapshot can reduce startup time to under two minutes, improving speed by about 680x. Zakura is the first implemented component of Zcash's scaling plan, with a long-term goal of boosting processing capacity to over 50,000 transactions per second while preserving privacy and full validation capabilities. Note that the 50K TPS is the team's long-term scaling target, not the current performance of Zakura. Zakura will also support the Ironwood upgrade, expected to activate on July 28.
