[Moore Threads Co-Founder Wang Dong: There Is No 'Universal Chip' in the Inference Market, but Rather a Combination of Solutions] Odaily Planet Daily News – Wang Dong, co-founder and COO of GPU manufacturer Moore Threads, stated, 'The development of large models is progressing very rapidly both domestically and internationally. Leading companies are now completing iterations of cutting-edge foundational model versions approximately every two months. In terms of model invocation costs, we have observed that China's cutting-edge foundational models have a significant cost advantage compared to models of equivalent intelligence levels abroad. Chinese models offer better cost performance, which precisely demonstrates that model companies have done a great deal of work on improving model efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and training costs under limited computing power.' Wang Dong pointed out that there is no 'universal chip' in the inference market, but rather a combination of 'solutions.' 'The technical application threshold in the inference market is relatively low, and the scenarios are highly fragmented. No single company can monopolize all niche application scenarios. There is no absolutely perfect single piece of hardware. Through flexible software-hardware collaboration, each model can find the most suitable hardware combination to achieve the optimal balance between cost and performance. The market will see the emergence of numerous ISP companies, providing more cost-effective and flexible customized inference services for MaaS providers or end customers.'
