[Apple Reportedly in Early Settlement Talks with U.S. Department of Justice Over Antitrust Case]
Jin10 News, July 18 – According to informed sources, Apple (AAPL.O) and the U.S. Department of Justice are engaged in preliminary settlement talks regarding a 2024 lawsuit accusing Apple of violating antitrust laws. Neither Apple nor the U.S. Department of Justice has immediately responded to requests for comment.
The report states that both parties are actively negotiating, but there is no guarantee that a final agreement will be reached. It also notes that Apple has proposed multiple solutions to the U.S. Department of Justice in an effort to resolve the case.
In 2024, as the government intensifies its crackdown on tech giants, the U.S. Department of Justice and 15 states filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing it of monopolizing the smartphone market, harming smaller competitors, and driving up prices. According to reports, it is currently unclear whether the attorneys general of the states involved are participating in the settlement talks.
