[Analyst: Consumer Confidence Survey Provides Reassurance for Monetary Policy] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on July 17, Samuel Tombs from Pantheon wrote that the rise in the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index remains below last year's average level. The index increased from 49.5 in June to 54.4, surpassing economists' expectations of 50.5. Tombs noted that the decline in inflation expectations offers some reassurance to the Federal Reserve. 'Admittedly, Chair Walsh might be slightly disappointed that his hawkish rhetoric on inflation has not further suppressed expectations,' he stated. However, Tombs pointed out that workers' 'lack of leverage' means that 'the likelihood of wage growth accelerating due to the recent rebound in overall inflation is very low.'
