[South Korea's Ruling Party Plans to Promote the Legislation of the 'Basic Act on Digital Assets' in September and Restart the Digital Asset Task Force]
Odaily Planet Daily News – South Korea's Democratic Party of Korea announced that it will restart the special task force on digital assets after completing internal leadership adjustments in August and plans to propose the 'Basic Act on Digital Assets' bill in September, aiming to complete the legislation within the year. Democratic Party lawmaker Park Min-kwyu stated that the content and submission timeline of the bill will be jointly coordinated by the National Assembly, the Presidential Office, and relevant departments, with discussions expected to begin as early as early September. In addition to clarifying the issuers of stablecoins, it is also necessary to simultaneously improve supporting systems for market structure, security, and regulation, and to establish a localized digital asset system that aligns with South Korea's financial regulatory environment. Furthermore, Democratic Party lawmaker Min Byung-deok suggested developing a Korean won stablecoin as a payment and settlement tool to support the overseas development of South Korea's culture, commerce, tourism, and manufacturing industries.
