[Israeli Media: Israel to Produce Domestic Version of 'Joint Direct Attack Munition' Within Two Years] According to a report by *The Jerusalem Post* cited by Golden Finance on July 16, Israel is expected to achieve mass production of its domestic version of the 'Joint Direct Attack Munition' (JDAM) bomb within two years, which will significantly transform its combat capabilities. Under the directive of then-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and the recommendations of the Yaakov Turkel Committee, Israel began ramping up domestic bomb production by the end of 2024. For decades, Israel had been highly reliant on the United States for such supplies, especially during times of crisis. Previously, in May 2024, the Biden administration imposed a partial arms freeze on Israel due to disagreements over the Israeli Defense Forces' incursion into the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip. The initial plan was to enable Israel to achieve greater autonomy in the production of so-called 'dumb bombs.' However, this marked only the beginning of Israel's journey toward greater self-reliance in weapons manufacturing, particularly in the field of munitions. This process significantly accelerated and expanded between 2025 and 2026, ultimately shifting focus to the production of 'smart bombs' like the JDAM.
