According to TechCrunch, OpenAI has officially entered the hardware market with the launch of the $230 Codex Micro Keyboard, designed specifically for the AI coding assistant Codex. The keyboard was co-developed with keyboard designer Work Louder and features illuminated keys to display agent status, shortcut keys for frequently used Codex operations, a joystick for initiating workflows, and a dial to adjust the agent's 'reasoning' level, serving as a 'command center' for the agent's tasks. The device can be controlled and customized via the ChatGPT desktop application.
Last week, Apple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing its senior leadership of intentionally extracting Apple's confidential information for the development of its own hardware devices. OpenAI denies any misconduct.
