[Former OpenAI CTO's Thinking Machines Launches Its First Open-Source Large Model, Inkling]
According to TechCrunch, AI startup Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, has officially released its first independently developed open-source AI model, Inkling. This model is a hybrid expert system with a total of 975 billion parameters, utilizing approximately 41 billion parameters per task. It was trained on 45 trillion multimodal tokens and is limited to text-based outputs. Inkling is an open-weight model, allowing external developers and companies to directly download and modify it. The model is designed to provide calibrated answers, including marking uncertainty instead of making guesses, and enables users to adjust the "thinking effort" level in exchange for speed.
