[Tim Draper Reveals Why He Missed the Opportunity to Invest in Coinbase, Believes Crypto Market Was Too Early for Mainstream Adoption] Odaily Planet Daily News - Tim Draper, founder of Draper Associates, stated that the reason he did not invest in Coinbase early on was his assessment that retail adoption of crypto would take a longer time, rather than a lack of confidence in Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong. Tim Draper disclosed that at the time, he had already invested in the early Bitcoin company Coinlab, which initially led him to pass on investing in Coinbase. His son, Adam Draper, disagreed with this judgment and provided Brian Armstrong with the first check. Tim Draper later participated in Coinbase's next round of financing. Coinbase was subsequently founded and developed into a crypto platform by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam, eventually going public on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol COIN. Tim Draper stated that Coinbase has become one of the flagship investments of Draper Associates Fund V, with returns from Coinbase alone nearly doubling the overall size of the fund.
